Safer Community Program

The term sexual assault is broad and refers to when a person is touched in an intentionally sexual way, without their consent, and they feel frightened, uncomfortable or threatened.

Sexual harassment is unwanted sexual behaviour which makes a make a person feel offended, humiliated, or intimidated.

Bullying can be described as repeated, unreasonable behaviour that creates a risk to a person’s physical or psychological health.

Discrimination is when a person treats, or proposes to treat, someone unfavourably because of a personal characteristic.

Family/intimate partner violence can be described as harmful or violent behaviour that is used to control, threaten, force or dominate a family member through fear.

Stalking can be described as occurring when a person repeatedly follows, contacts, loiters or interferes with another person or their property, and intends to cause fear, physical or mental harm.

This portal allows you to get support or seek action in reponse to sexual assault, harassment or other forms of inappropriate behaviour. The University will take all reasonable steps to protect your anonymity if you choose to remain anonymous.

The free SafeZone app can help students and staff stay safe on campus, with options for safety alerts and ways to reach the University Security team.

The University's confidential reporting service allows you to report inappropriate employee behaviour such as discrimination, harassment, assault, bullying, and victimisation.
